"But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you."

Paul makes a breathtaking connection in this passage. The power that raised Jesus from the dead—the Spirit that wields this power—now dwells within us. What happened outside Jerusalem's walls in an empty tomb continues to work within our bodies at this very moment.
Our mortal bodies. Paul acknowledges our weakness honestly. We grow weary, we fall ill, we collapse. Spiritually, too. We tire before repeated failures, and the absence of change tempts us to give up. Yet Paul declares that this dying flesh will be made alive—not someday, but now, in this place.
This is more than a promise for distant tomorrow. Yes, resurrection after death is included, but the Holy Spirit dwelling in us right now is already beginning that work. Exhausted will, hardened heart, senses dulled by repetition—the Spirit of resurrection works even there.
The word "dwelleth" is crucial. The Spirit does not visit and depart; He remains. On days when we crumble, on mornings when prayer feels impossible, in moments when faith wavers—the Spirit is there. The power of resurrection has not been extinguished within us.
🙏 Today's Prayer
Father God, I hold fast today to the truth that the Spirit of resurrection dwells within me. Quicken this weary body and troubled heart. Grant me not merely to wait for a distant resurrection, but to experience the power of your Holy Spirit at work in me now. Let your life-giving power appear in my life today. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
