📜 Today's Meditation

On the island of Patmos, John encounters a vision—Jesus appearing in overwhelming glory speaks directly to him. "I am the living one." The words strike with force. The one who died is now speaking, alive before him.

"I was dead." Jesus does not deny his death, nor does he hide it. The death on the cross was real. But it is not the end. "Behold." This word demands our attention—open your eyes wide and see. Look at me standing before you now.

"I hold the keys of death and Hades." This is the conclusion. Death opens and closes only at the command of one who holds the keys. Jesus holds them in his hands. Death no longer opens doors at its own will. Neither does Hades. All authority rests in the hands of the Risen One.

John sends this vision to persecuted churches. In an age when Roman emperors wielded power, they lived under constant threat of death. Into that darkness comes this word: The keys of death do not belong to the emperor. They belong to the One who is alive even now. The same word comes to us today.

🙏 Today's Prayer

Living Lord, we praise you not only for rising from death but for holding in your hands the keys of death and Hades. When the things I fear seem to possess real power, remind me whose hands hold the keys. Today I trust in you who live forever. In Jesus' name, Amen.
