📜 Today's Meditation

Peter writes this letter to scattered believers in Asia Minor. They are sojourners—unwelcome in the Roman Empire, living with the dread of persecution that could strike at any moment. Yet to them, Peter sends this word: "a lively hope."

Lively hope. Living hope. The phrase catches my attention. Is it not true that there are dead hopes and living hopes? Dead hope is hope that works only when circumstances are favorable—when prayers are answered, when health is good, when life flows as we desire. Such hope crumbles at the first blow of reality.

But hope born from resurrection is different. It stands on the most desperate event—the cross, the death—becoming the very gateway to resurrection. This hope does not die when circumstances change. Peter knew this through experience. He had denied Jesus three times and fled, yet he met the risen Lord.

What is the state of your hope today? Does it falter with changing circumstances? Is it still alive? The hope that the risen Christ gives cannot be sealed in a tomb. That hope lives today.

🙏 Today's Prayer

O God our Father, we thank you for the gift of living hope. We confess our weakness—we lose hope whenever circumstances grow dark. Plant within us anew that hope born from resurrection, a hope that will not die in any situation. Grant us to live this day with living hope, as pilgrims journeying through this land. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
